The Ultimate Vacation Planning Guide to San Diego, by a local guyfacebook twitter blogspot

How do you find the BEST of San Diego?

You ask a local....but not just any local. You ask Local Wally, the local guy who's been giving straight insider's advice to San Diego tourists and locals alike since 1996. I'm not a big corporation, I'm just a local guy who loves San Diego and wants to make sure you have a great time in my hometown. From finding the best hotel in San Diego to the best restaurants to avoiding the tourist traps, that's that Local Wally is all about.

Whether you're a locallooking for things to do or a tourist planning a trip, it's all here - including the things that everyone from Fodors to The Travel Channel misses, and trust me, they miss a lot. But how could they know? They're not locals!

This is going to be easier than cheating off that smart kid in class!

Kayaking in La Jolla

Do you know what parts of town to stay in, and what parts to avoid? Or what Summer month is famous for vacation ruining overcast skies? Where do locals eat and what tourist traps are actually worth visiting? You don't know? Well Local Wally does!

Stick with me and I'll guide you to the best restaurants, the best attractions, the best sunsets, the best places to stay, everything that makes San Diego the perfect spot for vacations and fun.

Tip: Read my latest blog post on the Best Resort in San Diego! You'll love it!

There's no sales pitch, no hidden agenda, just good stuff about San Diego from me to you. If it's good, it's here. If it's not, it's not!

And unlike other guides that try hard to impress you with their "insider" knowledge, I won't lead you astray. For example, one big guide recommends you visit Imperial Beach near the border to get the real flavor of San Diego. You'll get the flavor all right, expecially when Mexican Sea Logs, otherwise known as raw sewage from Tijuana, comes floating at you in the surf! AUGGGH, not Local Wally approved!

WINTER 2014: It's officially Fall but it sure looks a lot like Summer around here. Sure, the evenings get enough chill that the shorts turn into long pants but the days are still warm enough for the beach and the water is perfect. Visit this holiday season to see what Christmas on the beach feels like!

Big changes coming to Local Wally as I continue a major re-design. The new version will have more local bits, more discounts, and a mobile version with great coupons you can use while on vacation. Be patient- I should launch Early 2015.

Local Wally is the oldest local website on San Diego and the only one left still run by a local guy. I'll help you plan your best vacation ever with honest advice from a real local as well as having cheap hotel and discount tickets.

And if you like beer, check out my newest site, the complete guide to San Diego's micro-breweries.
